A good place to pause
Useful information keeps its source and its limits
Useful place information needs an understandable origin. CamperPause’s publication standard is to keep each claim linked to its source, permitted use and scope. Public access to a page or file is not permission to copy it; rules can differ for data, text, images and reviews.
Different sources answer different questions
An authority may publish a rule or public-site notice; an operator may describe its own opening, facilities and booking terms; a mapping dataset may list a category or amenity; and a traveller may report a dated experience. These sources have different purposes. A map category does not itself confirm a current rule, while a traveller’s account should remain identified as personal experience.
A source for one field may not support another: opening hours do not confirm drinking-water status, and a notice for one car park does not set regional rules. Tie each claim to the source and scope that support it.
Check permission before reuse
We review reuse terms before publishing information. A publicly readable website does not mean its text, photographs and reviews can be copied. A listing may therefore show a permitted fact and link to the source for more detail.
OpenStreetMap provides its map data under the Open Database License. Its copyright guidance requires credit to OpenStreetMap and its contributors and makes clear that the data is available under that licence; the full terms govern reuse and derived databases.[1] A dataset’s open licence does not transfer rights to unrelated photographs, descriptions or reviews displayed beside it.
Show provenance where readers make decisions
A useful source note identifies its publisher, supported field, date, geographic scope and whether it is a traveller report or current confirmation. A distant source list can make unrelated claims seem to share one date.
A mapped category may locate a candidate, while an operator page confirms seasonal opening. Attribute both separately; do not infer availability tonight unless a source confirms it.
Report a rights or attribution concern
If you believe content is misattributed, outdated or outside its permission, identify the page, detail, source and date. Contact the publisher and include “CamperPause” to identify the service.
